Every picture in this film is a real photograph of Brisbane, taken between 1860 and 1950 and held by the State Library of Queensland, Queensland State Archives and other public collections. Nothing has been invented. Using AI colourisation and animation, the streets, the trams, the wharfies and the people of the 1893 flood move again for the first time.
From the penal settlement on the river bend to the capital of a new colony in 1859. Queen Street in the boom of the 1880s. The Black February flood of 1893 that took the Victoria Bridge. Electric trams from 1897, Federation crowds in 1901, the City Hall clock tower rising in 1928, the Story Bridge in 1940, and the American troops who made Brisbane the Allied capital of the Pacific in 1942.
Narrated by the History Reconstructed storyteller.
