Semiconductor Physics – Lecture In this lecture 4, we start Semiconductor Physics right from the basics. The session is designed for BSc, BTech, IIT JAM Physics, JEST, TIFR and other physics entrance exam learners. We will first build the basic concepts properly and then gradually move towards semiconductor devices and p-n junctions in the upcoming lectures. Topics discussed in this lecture: Conductors, Insulators and Semiconductors Energy Band Theory Valence Band and Conduction Band Forbidden Energy Gap / Band Gap Variation of Band Gap with Temperature Intrinsic Semiconductors Electron and Hole Concept Carrier Concentration Fermi–Dirac Distribution Fermi Level in Intrinsic Semiconductor Extrinsic Semiconductors n-type and p-type Semiconductors Donor and Acceptor Impurities Effect of Doping on the Fermi Level Majority and Minority Carriers Basic numerical problems This series will continue step by step towards: Carrier concentration → conductivity and resistivity → temperature dependence → p-n junction → depletion region → diode equation → I-V characteristics. If you are preparing for IIT JAM Physics, JEST, TIFR, CUET PG, GATE Physics, BSc or BTech examinations, this series should help you build Semiconductor Physics from the fundamentals. Subscribe to My Physics Lab for more Physics lectures, PYQs, problem-solving sessions and discussions related to Physics and research. #SemiconductorPhysics #IITJAMPhysics #JESTPhysics #TIFRPhysics #BScPhysics #BTechPhysics #Electronics #Physics #MyPhysicsLab You can also make the first line of the description more clickable: “Semiconductor Physics starts here — from energy bands and Fermi level to p-n junctions and diode characteristics.”
