This inexpensive part is a common failure point that can cause a variety of confusing electrical gremlins. Common Symptoms of a Bad Brake Light Switch: BAS / ESP Warning Lights: These lights on your dashboard often indicate the switch has failed electrically. Stuck in Park: If you cannot move your gear shifter out of Park (P), the brake switch is likely not sending the signal that your foot is on the pedal.
