Police shoot dead a wanted suspected gangster in Kisumu

The suspect who reportedly shot dead a police officer and wounded two others in Kisumu was gunned down by police during a raid in Obunga on Tuesday evening. Confirming the incident, Nyanza regional police commander Karanja Muiruri revealed that police recovered a firearm that the suspect had been using to visit terror on various places, with ballistics matching the firearm to the scene of crime where a police officer was shot dead in Nyakach about a fortnight ago. 30 rounds of ammunition were also recovered, with Muiruri adding that police are pursuing a gang that has been terrorizing residents in Kisumu and as far as Homa Bay and Migori counties. The suspect was part of a larger gang marked by police, that reportedly conducts robberies at gunpoint using firearms snatched from police officers. The recovered firearm had been stolen from a traffic police officer from Maseno, who was on duty along the Kisumu-Bondo road
