#DigitalArrest #CyberScam2026 #OnlineFraud #EDImpersonation #SafeIndia #CyberPolice #ScamAlert #DigitalArrestExposed Delhi Police have arrested three people in connection with a shocking 'digital arrest' cyber fraud case in which an elderly NRI doctor couple was cheated of nearly ₹15 crore at their residence in Greater Kailash-II, South Delhi. The accused Divyang Patel, Krutik Shitoli from Vadodara, Gujarat, and KS Tiwari from Prayagraj allegedly helped an international cyber scam network by providing mule bank accounts used to launder the cheated money. Police are also investigating possible links to China- and Cambodia-based cyber fraud syndicates. According to investigators, Patel, who runs an NGO in Vadodara, allowed fraudsters to route nearly ₹4 crore through his organisation’s bank account in return for commission. Another accused allegedly acted as a facilitator, arranging multiple bank accounts for the scam, while the third provided an additional account that received around ₹2 crore. The victims, Dr Indra Taneja (77) and Dr Om Taneja (81), were kept under so-called digital arrest between December 24 and January 9, after scammers posing as police accused them of circulating obscene videos and money laundering. Under pressure and fear, the couple transferred money across accounts spread over Gujarat, Assam, Delhi, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Uttarakhand. Police say the money was routed through accounts registered in the names of NGOs, trading firms, recruitment agencies and travel companies, making the trail harder to detect. Of the total ₹14.85 crore, authorities have managed to freeze ₹2.10 crore so far. The case highlights the growing threat of digital arrest scams, especially targeting elderly citizens, and exposes how local facilitators enable international cyber crime networks.
