Chris Gekker was my teacher for about 6 weeks in 1995, but the effects of my time with him still resonate today. He has written many fine trumpet method books, but his original articulation studies are a mainstay in my routine as a trumpet player and teacher. It is also near and dear to me since, when I studied with him that summer, he was proofreading it and getting it ready for the publisher.
This is how I work through some of his exercises.

00:25 today I want to demonstrate some chris gekker's articulation studies
00:45 I don't necessarily play all the exercises but i do want to show you how I practice them
the idea is to keep an even sound
00:58 the reason i was working on these was that I had high, middle, and low embouchures
and really the only ones that worked very well were middle and low.
01:54 I don’t generally go straight down the page go to the next page i try to jump around so that i'm constantly forcing myself to to play with variations in in the workload
03:18 definitely would practice these slower and with all the variations he has printed at the end
04:35 I used to practice like this. The chromatic is just a way to try to fool yourself...
05:18 all these are written to fix a problem his playing,
or problems with the students’ playing.
06:22 that's what allows us to stay flexible
06:54 Well that that was just wrong in every
conceivable way!
08:34 it's always from a musical standpoint… you figure out how to get the good technique with the musical phrase
09:00 that's why if you play second trumpet on a beethoven symphony all week where you're just smoking low notes it doesn't make you feel that flexible!
09:37 this is a variation that chris wrote
from the Shuebruk book - an excellent exercise. Try to vary the
the volume and articulation
10:40 that time i got what i wanted.
11:04 Etude #1 the forte version
11:52 Etude #3
12:37 Conclusion...you should do whatever exercises make sense to you etc.
