Widzew Łódź Stadium — affectionately known as Serce Łodzi, the Heart of Łódź — is one of the most passionate and atmospheric football grounds in Poland, opened on 18 March 2017 at 138 Marshal Józef Piłsudski Avenue. Built in the English style, with stands positioned directly behind the touchlines and end lines, it guarantees perfect visibility from all 18,008 seats and amplifies fan support, making the crowd the team's twelfth player. Even before opening, the stadium made history as the first newly built venue in Poland to sell out its season tickets entirely — an extraordinary feat achieved while Widzew were still a fourth-division club. The club itself, founded in 1910, is a four-time Polish champion (1981, 1982, 1996, 1997), 1985 Polish Cup winner, and one of only two Polish clubs to have competed in the UEFA Champions League group stage. In the 1982–83 season Widzew reached the semi-final of the European Cup, eliminating then three-time winners Liverpool along the way.
