#HFY, #HFYStories, #Humanity, #HumanityFirst, #SciFi, #SciFiStories, #ScienceFiction, The Galactic Federation expected humanity to be a primitive civilization with little to offer the galaxy. When Ambassador Theelvornne Ys arrived on Earth’s doorstep for humanity’s first official contact, he believed the humans would be easy to understand—and certainly not dangerous. But everything changed when Captain Elena Reyes revealed Earth’s military capabilities. Humanity had no faster-than-light travel, no energy shields, and only a few hundred spacecraft. However, there was one shocking detail the Federation never expected: Earth possessed approximately 11,000 nuclear warheads and had once maintained more than 70,000! And that was not the only surprise. Humanity had also developed an asteroid-redirection program that began as weapons research. As the ambassador learned why humans had spent thousands of years developing increasingly destructive weapons, he discovered a terrifying truth: humanity's greatest danger had never been the alien civilizations beyond the stars. It had always been humanity itself. Discover this entertaining HFY science-fiction story about humanity's unusual history, first contact, alien diplomacy, dark humor, and the unexpected power of a species that is far more dangerous than it appears.
