WHO TOLD YOU WHO YOU ARE?

Today at The Power Table, we opened a conversation about identity—not simply the name you were given, but what you have allowed that name, your experiences, other people and the world around you to teach you about yourself. We talked about names, identity, and the archetypes we can begin to embody when we repeatedly accept certain definitions of ourselves. I also reflected on a powerful scene from The Lion King, when Mufasa takes Simba out beneath the stars and begins helping him understand that his life, identity and place in the world are connected to something much greater than what he can presently see. That scene raises a question worth sitting with: What changes when you begin to see yourself through a greater understanding of who you are? Because sometimes the issue isn't that there isn't more within us. Sometimes we've forgotten who we are. And before we can fully take our seat, walk in purpose or become who we were created to be, we may have to examine the identity we've been carrying. We're not rushing this conversation. We're going to spoon-feed it, sit with it and examine it.
