Stallion Behaviour: Head Shy Horse

When horses (often stallions) are controlled by means of stallion chains (stud chains), yelling and jerking on the lead shank it often results in some form of head shyness. For this stallion the head shyness had taken on dangerous proportions by the time he was only 4 years old. With a lot of patience the head shyness had been resolved up to the point that it were only the ears that were a problem area for this horse. Now that enough trust has been built between behaviourist and horse, this series of pictures shows how this stallion learned that touching of his ears does not have to illicit an exaggerated fear response.
