The Pilgrimage Journey | Cynthia Kwon

Week 6 – The Pilgrimage Journey / Psalms 120-122 Key Point Psalms 120–134 share a superscription that connects them to Israel’s practice of pilgrimage. This collection of psalms speaks to what pilgrimage looks like in both daily life and corporate worship. It explores some of the tensions these psalms present, as two poems placed side by side can highlight paradoxical aspects of our identity and calling. The pilgrimage collection begins in a place of dislocation and distance, calling us to be dissatisfied with where we find ourselves (120). As we begin our journey, where do we look for help (121:1–2)? We are invited to see God as our guardian in every dimension of life: day and night, in our coming and going, now and forever (121:3–6). At the same time, we anticipate with great joy the place God is preparing for us (122:1–3), and we seek His shalom both there and here (122:4–8). Share with us in the chat what God is speaking to you through worship and the Word this morning! We are one family and love to encourage and be encouraged by one another. God bless you, ICA Fam!
