At first, everything was going well. The hen accepted the eggs, the embryos were developing, and the incubation seemed to be progressing normally. But near the end, something completely unexpected happened — almost all of the eggs disappeared from the nest. Only one remained, and unfortunately, that egg never hatched either. But the hen refused to leave the empty nest. After more than 20 days of sitting, I decided to give her a completely new set of eggs and one more chance to become a mother. That meant another full natural incubation and more than 40 days spent on the nest. This time, four eggs continued developing. All four eventually pipped — and all four Cochin chicks successfully hatched. But the story didn't end there. I continued filming their development for the next 10 weeks — their first meal, first days outside, learning from their mother, growing bigger every week, and even one difficult moment when one of the chicks was barely showing signs of life.
