This is the honest truth that Kerala Tourism won't tell you. Episode 6 starts with a strict, tense warning from forest officials at the Vattavada National Park checkpost: "DO NOT stop your motorcycle for the next 5 kilometers." We entered a eerie, reserved eucalyptus forest under strict surveillance, expecting the beautiful misty weather we had from Anakulam to Munnar. Instead, the climate brutally shifted into blazing hot heat. We stripped off our rain layers and took a punishing 9km off-road trek over broken rocks and deep sand toward the highly hyped Chilanthiyar Check Dam and Vattavada Tiger Cave. The result? A complete disaster. The dam was bone-dry, the trek was absolutely worthless, and it was a massive disappointment. But things got worse on the way back. Due to a major design flaw with my tall aftermarket touring windscreen, my front visibility was completely blocked on the steep terrain. I hit a patch of deep sand and suffered my WORST fall yet on the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450. My rally gear lever got severely bent, but we managed to patch it up and escape back toward Munnar. If you are planning a long-distance motorcycle trip all the way from Chennai just for Vattavada—DON'T DO IT.
