Keep It Taut and Keep It True · dub techno for precise work

A cold, exact groove a touch quicker than a slow walk, held together by a growling bass that drifts gently against itself as it repeats a two bar figure. All the percussion is metal and wood struck close and dry, a flicked steel rule, a clang on an anvil, a mallet on end grain. One short dark chord hits on the offbeat and its echoes fall away quieter each time, while a plucked wire rings like a low bell every eight bars. Wind hums through an unfinished steel frame, and apart from the bass slowly grinding, nothing moves. A blinding white salt flat in hard cold winter light, crossed by tall slender masts and perfectly taut lines, a world of exact geometry, clean air and long blue shadows.
