In this video I outline three typical situations in which a claimant may argue that they have suffered pure economic loss. I explained what the general rule is with regard to recovering damages for pure economic loss in English law, and explain what the exception to that general rule is. I also apply the law to a problem question. Cases discussed in the video include Spartan Steel & Alloys v Martin & Co [1973], Hedley Byrne & Co Ltd v Heller & Partners [1964], Anns v Merton LBC [1978] and Murphy v Brentwood DC [1991] What to watch next: A case summary of Spartan Steel & Alloys v Martin & Co [1973]    • Spartan Steel & Alloys v Martin & Co [1973...   The differences between pure economic loss and consequential loss    • Pure economic loss. 3 typical claims- negl...   The Hedley Byrne principle and the Special Relationship    • What is the 'Hedley Byrne' principle? How ...   A case summary of Hedley Byrne v Heller & Partners [1964]    • Hedley Byrne v Heller & Partners. Why Hedl...   Hedley Byrne v Heller in the House of Lords    • Hedley Byrne v Heller & Partners in the Ho...
