Starting a barbarian using only my newly upgraded Level 320 v3.0.4.
I had a weapon gained from Gheed a few games ago so I just used it to be able to start him a bit faster but for new starters prepare for a rough start and engaging difficulty. Even though character power was significantly increased before as well I had not reached the necessary difficulty for a satisfying gameplay. Now I have increased enemy HP, damage and density and in my opinion it makes for a much more motivating playthrough.
During tests I died aprox. 30-40 times with Sorceress before I could finish the first Den quest. Mob density made those small red devils and their summoners surround me often and be extremely lethal. Even after reaching level 10 I still struggled a lot to both kill and not be killed. This is because compared to other classes where weapons directly decides their damage, for Sorceress initial weapons do absolutely nothing and her damage is strictly based on her skills and their base damage considering the increment pattern is almost inexistent for this difficulty. Even with 30 stats and 6 skills per level she could not keep up and I would spend all my mana on 3 or 4 demons then run and use potions like crazy. This is with all points invested in Warmth as well as others since we got 6 per level. Investing all points in mana was not an option either cos 1 hit from lowest mob possible meant instant death if not increasing her HP and Dexterity too so I used 10 or 20 in Mana and the rest in the others which meant she would still die almost instantly if caught up.
This made me decide to increase the damage of all her skills by 30% including their increment pattern and increase stats and skills per level for everyone not just for her to 40 stats and 9 skills.
However if some players still consider it too easy in the late game, the old Players 2 to 8 still works and it will massively increase difficulty with this mod on.
WHAT'S NEW IN 3.0.4
Rebalanced progression to 4 billion XP at level 320, with 40 stat points and 9 skill points per level. Learned skills can reach level 250.
Permanent x8 combat difficulty and double monster density. Very large bosses use safe health caps rather than risking overflow.
Sorceress spell damage increased by approximately 30%; improved summons, mercenaries, AoE skills and aura behaviour.
Gold amounts x10, more Superior gear, and improved boss loot quality and quantity. Ordinary enemies keep normal per-enemy drop quantities.
Much better Set/Unique gambling odds and a wider equipment pool. Normal eligibility and fallback rules still apply.
Broader merchant stock; gamblers sell real runes, gems and supplies.
Skill relics sold across all five acts: regular bonuses of 1-10 and Greater bonuses of 11-63 from level 40. Own-class relic bonuses retain the game's +3 cap for relics, use small totems from gamblers for higher same class skills.
Fixed +7 own-class skill totems for every player-class skill. Find them on the Armour tab at Akara, Lysander, Alkor, Halbu and Malah. Carry relics and totems in your inventory to use them; no tickets or transmuting needed. Halbu's ordinary armour stock is replaced by totems.
16x16 character, Cube, merchant, personal and ordinary Shared inventories.
