The Golden age of Swedish Transatlantic Liners. The Swedish American Line, or Svenska Amerika Linien was a Swedish cruise line operating between Göteborg and New York City. The first crossing was made in 1915 during The Great War and revolutionized shipping in Sweden until the end in 1975. The Swedish American Line was the first in the world to use diesel engines in 1925 making them significantly faster over their competition in Britain.
