My name is Renee. I am thirty two years old and the Vice President of Operations for a logistics firm in Atlanta. For thirty two years my family forgot my birthday to throw lavish parties for my older brother. But this year when my husband emptied our joint account to fund my brother's yacht party I did not cry. I used my executive bonus to buy a lake house. I posted a photo with the caption Birthday gift to myself. Their outrage was revealing. But the destruction I rained down on them was legendary. If you have ever been the cash cow for a toxic family tell me where you are watching from. Hit like and subscribe to see how I dismantled their lives. The morning of October fourteenth started like any other Tuesday. It was my thirty second birthday. It was also my brother Darius's thirty fourth birthday. Growing up in a wealthy Black family in Atlanta meant appearances were everything and my parents Harold and Vivian made sure Darius was always the center of the universe. I was the workhorse. He was the king. I woke up at six in the morning sliding out of bed so I would not wake my husband Julian. Julian was a financial broker or at least he liked to play one. In reality I paid the mortgage on our Buckhead estate. I walked into my home office and opened my laptop. I needed to authorize a routine payment to a vendor using the joint account Julian and I maintained. I typed in my password. The screen loaded. I blinked rubbing my eyes thinking I was asleep. The available balance was dangerously low. Exactly forty thousand dollars had been withdrawn yesterday afternoon. Panic seized my chest. Forty thousand dollars is not a typo. It is a deliberate massive wire transfer. My mind raced through the possibilities. Fraud. Identity theft. I clicked on the transaction history my hands physically shaking over the mousepad. The line item stared back at me in bold black letters. It was a wire transfer to a luxury event concierge service in Miami. I picked up my phone ready to call the bank's fraud department. Just then the door to my office swung open. Julian strolled in wearing his expensive silk robe holding a cup of espresso. He looked completely relaxed without a single trace of guilt on his handsome face. He took a sip of his coffee and smiled. Good morning babe he said casually leaning against the doorframe. You are up early working already. I turned the laptop screen toward him. Julian where is the forty thousand dollars missing from our account. His smile did not falter. He did not look surprised. He just sighed a heavy patronizing sound as if I were a child asking a foolish question. Oh that. I handled it yesterday. Do not worry about it.
