There has been a lot of questions asked about what the largest size of tyre can be fitted onto the new Defender and whether or not lift rods are a good idea and in this video I talk about the Cooper Discoverer XLTs I have installed on mine (265/60/20s) and touch briefly on installing lift rods to Land Rovers. Larger tyres (over 32.5") can be installed by use of frame lifts, lift rods, or e-lifts, however I don't recommend them unless you are using your vehicle largely and solely for off-roading. Some owners in Iceland and elsewhere have successfully installed 33" tyres with some light trim modification, and this video shows you where the catchment would be.
