Nearco was unbeaten in 14 races, and today he is in the pedigree of almost every racehorse, through Nasrullah, Royal Charger and Nearctic, the sire of Northern Dancer. He was born from a mating that was turned down, sold to England just before the Second World War, and kept out of Nazi reach, while Pharis, a horse by the same sire, was taken to Germany. In this video, a Japanese creator who first saw Nearco's name in a video game pedigree chart 30 years ago follows his story, from Italy in the 1930s to Japan's Sunday Silence, Mejiro McQueen and Symboli Rudolf, and to the 2025 world champion Calandagan. Update: After finishing this video, I did find a famous horse with no Nearco in his pedigree. Shinzan, Japan's Triple Crown winner in 1964. His grandsire was Bois Roussel, the English Derby winner who finished third behind Nearco in the 1938 Grand Prix de Paris. This channel is made by a Japanese creator using AI tools. Please forgive any unnatural English. #Nearco #HorseRacing #WW2 #Thoroughbred #NorthernDancer #SundaySilence #Pedigree #HorseHistory #Nazi
