In this episode of Rambles with Robin and Ruby, we drive to the Arctic Ocean along the Inuvik - Tuktoyaktuk Highway, Northwest territories, Canada. The highway was opened in fall of 2017 and has quickly found itself on the bucket list of many travellers. The highway traverses about 140 km (85 mi) of subarctic tundra. It is beautiful country that few people have seen. Along the way, we see snow machines that are used in the summer - why? We also see pingos, lots of small lakes, and many wildflowers that thrive in the short subarctic summer. Join us along this epic journey from Inuvik to Tuktoyaktuk, along the new Inuvik - Tuktoyaktuk Highway as we cross the subarctic tundra. Geological and other natural curiosities include: a) permafrost; b) pingos; and c) ice age glaciers.
