In the IDW miniseries Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles x Godzilla, the King of the Monsters is not just a combatant, but the ultimate prize in a terrifying genetic arms race. When Shredder discovers he cannot control Godzilla via the mind-melding Augmenter—though he successfully hijacks both Anguirus and Rodan to ravage Tokyo—he shifts his strategy to harvesting the monster's blood. The resulting serum, Kaijutagen, allows characters to temporarily adopt kaiju forms, leading to devastating escalations. The Turtles themselves resort to the serum, with Leonardo merging directly with Godzilla, Raphael adopting the supersonic fury of Rodan, and Michelangelo transforming into a single-headed version of the apocalyptic space dragon, King Ghidorah.
