So far, 526 applications have been received for firecracker sale licences, of which 150 applicants have been granted temporary licences. The verification process for the remaining applications is underway. Before issuing licences, the DCP office is conducting inspections in coordination with the Fire Services, Revenue Department and Police. Licensed traders have been directed to arrange fire-resistant tents, fire extinguishers and other safety measures. They can sell firecrackers only during the prescribed hours. Bhubaneswar DCP Dr Sarvana Vivek M has warned that illegal sale or storage of firecrackers will invite police raids and legal action. In accordance with Supreme Court guidelines, the police have urged people to buy only green crackers from licensed shops. Special awareness and inspection drives have also been planned to ensure a safe and accident-free Diwali. For latest news updates follow us on WhatsApp: https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029VaYN...
