In this video, I take you on a fascinating 9-hour train journey across Kenya, starting from Nanyuki and travelling through beautiful countryside, fertile highlands, towns, farms, rivers and the lush hills of Murang’a before eventually arriving in Nairobi. The economy class ticket costs just KSh 400, while business class costs KSh 1,000. I’ll show you the difference between the two, including the extra space, luggage storage and sleeping facilities available in business class. Along the way, we experience the everyday side of Kenya railway travel—from passengers and families using the train to transport themselves and their belongings, to the large goods carriage that makes the train an affordable alternative to road transport. 🌄 What you'll see in this journey: • Nanyuki railway station and departure • Economy vs business class • Kenya's countryside and beautiful landscapes • Dry ranches around Nanyuki • Fertile highlands and farms • Rivers and lush hills in Murang’a • Thika and the agricultural areas around Del Monte • Railway stations and towns along the route • The maintenance stop at Sagana • The locomotive/engine change • How passengers and goods are transported • The realities of travelling on Kenya's railway I also share some of the things I believe could be improved, including the old railway toilet system, ageing stations and the dust experienced along some sections of the railway line. For international travellers and tourists visiting Kenya, this train journey offers a completely different way to experience the country—not just through famous tourist attractions, but through its landscapes, towns, communities and everyday life. If you're a nature lover, train enthusiast, budget traveller, adventure seeker or someone planning a trip to Kenya, this journey might be one to add to your list. 📍 Route: Nanyuki → Nairobi, Kenya 🚆 Journey time: Approximately 9 hours 🎟️ Economy: KSh 400 💺 Business Class: KSh 1,000 ⏰ Departure: Around 9:00 AM 🏙️ Expected arrival: Around 6:00 PM Would you take this train from Nanyuki to Nairobi?
