The Rise of Populist and Nationalist Parties in Europe #3 (Comment, Q&A)

This seminar examines the rise of populist and nationalist parties across Europe and their implications for foreign and defense policy. The first presentation by Dr. Célia Belin will present on the growing success of these movements, particularly France's Rassemblement National, and explores how the Trump administration has sought to support "patriotic parties" in Europe. Dr. Belin will also analyze the foreign and security policy positions of these parties. The second presentation by Dr. Pawel Zerka draws on ECFR's most recent public opinion survey to examine the views of populist and nationalist party supporters. It highlights voter attitudes toward international security, defense, Europe's strategic priorities, and transatlantic relations. Together, the presentations offer insights into one of the most significant political developments shaping contemporary Europe.
