BJP lawmakers have given their own government a certificate of incompetence. Nearly half a dozen BJP MPs and MLAs from Odisha have written to the Majhi government that development in their own areas is slipping — works delayed, quality poor, public money moving slower than the slogan. Berhampur’s flyover. Nabarangpur’s bypass crawling at a fraction of the promised pace. The Sambalpur–Sonepur road with no visible progress. Local MLAs saying even welfare proposals are ignored. This is not the opposition speaking. These are ruling-party MPs and MLAs telling their own Chief Minister and Works Minister: the ground is not matching the press note. When the party in power starts writing complaint letters instead of victory letters, “double engine” starts looking like a stalled engine. Delay, weak monitoring and the smell of waste are not small administrative lapses. They are an admission from inside the house.
