Oracle Within

Before the word was spoken, Before the gods had names, We watched the stars in silence, And searched beyond the flames. We saw a world of symbols, We heard the silent call, We tried to read the darkness, To understand it all. We read the signs, We face the night, We seek the truth Beyond the light. We ask the stars, We call the flame, We seek the unknown, We speak its name. They called the signs forbidden, They called the seekers blind, Yet every faith and kingdom Still searched the great design. The priest could fear the omen, The skeptic could deny, But both would face the question That waits behind the sky. We read the signs, We face the night, We seek the truth Beyond the light. We ask the stars, We call the flame, We seek the unknown, We speak its name. The rune will never answer, The card will never know, The stars cannot command us, Nor tell us where to go. The symbol is a mirror, The question lives within, We see the world before us, And find ourselves therein. We read the signs, We face the night, We seek the truth Beyond the light. We ask the stars, We call the flame, We seek the unknown, We speak its name. Perhaps there is no message, Perhaps there is no plan, Perhaps the need for meaning Is what created man. We turn the dust to symbols, We turn the chance to signs, We build a bridge through darkness, Between the stars and minds. Before the first religion, Before the sacred word, We watched the flight of ravens, We listened to the world. The hunger still remains here, It lives beneath our skin, To find a hidden order Where chaos once had been. We read the signs, We face the night, We seek the truth Beyond the light. We ask the stars, We call the flame, We seek the unknown, We speak its name. We read the signs, We face the night, We seek the truth Beyond the light. The oracle is within, The mirror bears our name, We seek the unknown — And become the flame.
