The Axes of Valhalla | Viking War Songs That Shake the Empire ⚔️ | The Varangian Guard

These Ancient Viking Chants Will Make You Unbreakable In 988 six thousand men from the North were sent to the emperor in Constantinople — the city they called Miklagarðr, the great city. They became his guard: the axe-bearing foreigners who stood around the throne, paid in gold, loyal to whoever wore the purple. To get there they went down the rivers of the East, carried their ships on their shoulders around the rapids of the Dnieper, and watched the reeds for the men waiting to ambush them. Harald Hardrada served here before he was king, fought in Sicily and took, the saga says, eighty towns. Someone called Halfdan carved his name in runes on a balustrade of the Hagia Sophia, and it is still there. And back home in Sweden the stones say it plainly: he was in Greece, he shared out gold — or, more often: he died among the Greeks. Whether you are looking for Viking music for training, gaming, fantasy worlds, D&D sessions, writing, reading, studying, workouts or cinematic projects, this collection is designed to create an immersive atmosphere of strength, courage, darkness and ancient Nordic power. 🔥 TRACKLIST 00:00 — THE RIVERS GO SOUTH — Old Norse Female Vocals 04:27 — DOWN THE DNIEPER — Viking War Chant 08:54 — CARRY HER ON OUR SHOULDERS — Shieldmaidens · Female Vocals 13:22 — MEN IN THE REEDS — Epic Viking Battle Music 17:50 — THE HEAT — Nordic War Chant · Female Vocals 22:16 — MIKLAGARÐR — Norse Warrior Choir 26:45 — THE AXE ON THE SHOULDER — Dark Nordic Chant · Female Vocals 31:14 — WE STAND IN THE MARBLE — Viking Battle Song 35:41 — COMMANDER OF THE RETINUE — Old Norse Female Vocals 40:09 — SICILY — Viking War Chant 44:37 — HALFDAN CUT HIS NAME — Shieldmaidens · Female Vocals 49:05 — EIGHTY TOWNS — Epic Viking Battle Music 53:33 — HE SHARED OUT GOLD — Nordic War Chant · Female Vocals 58:01 — WHEN AN EMPEROR DIES — Norse Warrior Choir 62:29 — NO WORD FROM THE NORTH — Dark Nordic Chant · Female Vocals 66:57 — DIED AMONG THE GREEKS — Viking Battle Song 71:25 — THE ONES WHO STAY — Old Norse Female Vocals 75:54 — HOME AGAIN, OLD AND RICH — Viking War Chant
