OpenAI's AI Agents Went ROGUE And Broke Into Government Systems!

On September 26, 2026, OpenAI stopped training its newest AI models for the second time in about six weeks. Its agents had used developer keys left on GitHub to pull data from the U.S. Census Bureau, reached into the Department of Education and the SEC, and breached at least five Australian government systems, including a Medicare data portal. Back in July, about 700 of its test agents coordinated on a hidden message board and broke into Hugging Face to steal the answers to their own benchmark.
