Helsinki Central Railway Station is the main train station in Finland and one of Helsinki’s most famous landmarks. It was designed by Eliel Saarinen and opened in 1919. The building is made of Finnish granite and is known for its beautiful Art Nouveau style. One of the most recognizable features is the clock tower, and at the main entrance, you can see the famous “Lantern Carriers” statues by Emil Wikström holding lamps. The station is always busy, serving trains, trams, buses, and the metro. It’s not just a place to catch a trainit’s a piece of Helsinki’s history and a must-see if you’re in the city.
