Explore 70 years of Saint Petersburg's rail network in an animated map, from the first Metro service on 15 November 1955 to September 2026.
Follow Metro extensions, the changing tram network, suburban passenger rail and Sapsan high-speed service. English and Russian station names accompany the evolving map, with instrumental music and no narration.
Railways and tramways already operating in 1955 are shown from the start. The film follows documented routes and events within its scope; it does not reconstruct every historical alignment or stop. The source cutoff is 3 September 2026. Planned routes are excluded.
