Restoring a derelict cottage in Ireland and creating natural pigments from the history held within its walls. Join my quiet monthly art letter( physical) https://deeciart.com/the-letter/ and https://deeciart.com/about/ to get early access to new collections and occasional studio notes(email) In this episode, I spend time carefully restoring this old cottage in West Cork, working with the lime walls, old slate roof tiles and forgotten materials that have been part of this place for generations. As I uncover layers of the cottage’s past, I begin experimenting with making natural pigments from materials found here — preserving a small piece of this wild landscape and carrying it forward into my paintings. This restoration journey is becoming more than rebuilding a house. It is about slowing down, listening to the land, and finding ways to connect creativity with the place I call home. I also spend time reflecting on patience, the process of restoration, and the lessons this old cottage continues to teach me. Through landscape painting, handmade materials, and a slower way of living, I am discovering a deeper connection to nature and creativity. Thank you for following along with this journey. 🌿 #SlowLiving #WestCork #CottageRestoration
