The Great Smoky Mountains Railroad is a popular heritage railroad based in Bryson City, North Carolina, located on the southern edge of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The GSMR operates excursion trains on the former Southern Railway (SOU) Murphy Branch between Dillsboro and Nantahala, North Carolina, pulled by locomotive 1702.
