14m Reef Spearfishing Algarve – Exploding Sealife, Dentex & I Nearly Lost My Gear Join me for a deep reef spearfishing session in the Algarve (Portugal) with incredible visibility, exploding sealife, and a surprise Dentex shot that almost ended in disaster. This was a new, unexplored reef between 12–14 meters, packed with mullet, sargos, triggerfish and unexpected action. During a long drop, I instinctively took a distant shot that turned out to be a Dentex… but excitement made me rush back down without a full recovery. The line was tangled on the reef and wrapped around my weight belt, leading to a dangerous moment where I had to drop my weights. Fortunately, thanks to the amazing visibility, my friend recovered my gear safely. Spearfishing teaches respect, patience and awareness — every dive is a lesson.
