Watch as I try and win the Championship while ONLY using Todd from Washington! In... The Juggernaut Challenge! No HP, doesn't matter! Lost the last event, it doesn't matter!! The Juggernaut Challenge is on!
Released by Technōs Japan in 1992, Crash 'N' the Boys: Street Challenge is the fourth localized entry in the legendary Kunio-kun franchise on the NES (joining iconic hits like River City Ransom and Super Dodge Ball). Instead of a standard, rule-abiding track and field simulation, this hidden gem is an all-out, no-holds-barred street sports brawler where fighting dirty isn't just allowed—it’s the only way to win!The story follows Theodore "Crash" Cooney and his blue-collar Southside High crew. After dominating a wealthy elite rival high school in a legitimate track meet, the bitter losers dare them to an unregulated, underground rematch across the city streets. Players choose from four rival neighborhood teams to compete in five chaotic, rule-breaking athletic trials:
400-Meter Hurdles: A brutal race where you can slide-tackle, punch, or use broken hurdles to sabotage your opponent.
Hammer Throw: A test of strength taking place on a grass lot, scored similarly to golf to see who can launch the weight the furthest downfield.
Swimming: A splash-and-bash underwater race where drowning your opponent to drain their stamina is a core mechanic.
Rooftop Jumping: A high-stakes trial requiring players to use unicycles and vaulting poles to leap across urban gaps.
Fighting Arena: An all-out battle royale brawl where the last team standing claims ultimate neighborhood bragging rights.
Between events, you can visit the local shopping malls to spend hard-earned medals on performance-boosting items and underhanded traps—like tacks or oil slicks—to ruin the next race for your competitors. Whether you are a fan of classic 8-bit sports games, the River City brawler aesthetic, or just love chaotic retro multiplayer chaos, Crash 'n the Boys remains one of the most unique and aggressive sports titles ever released on the Nintendo Entertainment System.
