The 7th Guest – Part 1 – 1993 CD-ROM puzzle adventure game

I’m starting my first playthrough of The 7th Guest tonight! Electronic Entertainment says it’s "the first truly compelling interactive CD-ROM game.” Let’s find out if they’re right. Originally streamed October 28, 2025. The 7th Guest was designed by Rob Landeros and Graeme Devine and developed by Trilobyte. It was originally published for MS-DOS in 1993 by Virgin Interactive Entertainment, and has been ported to many other platforms over the years. Along with Myst it’s considered one of the primary games that drove the adoption of CD-ROM drives. The 25th Anniversary Edition was released in 2019, a VR remake was published in 2023, and a non-VR version of that remake was released in 2026. The 7th Guest follows the story of its owner Henry Stauf, who antagonizes you endlessly as you explore his mansion.
