Finally we get to test the Solectria AC24 motor with the Curtis 1239-8501 Induction Motor Controller. I had to install another encoder cable that connects properly to the Curtis Controller. It also has the pins for the temperature sensor within the motor. The HV cables are not color coded to or marked as the HPEVS motors. They are marked ABC instead of UVW. Well, we took a stab at getting it right and then had to turn off encoder reverse which in effect switches the wires. After the software change the motor screamed to life with no issues. Nice and quiet and fast. Though this is under no load. It is an initial test and once successful we can move forward with the motor install into the vehicle. It is now time to remove the gasoline engine and all its components we won’t be utilizing for this build. I may keep the original radiator to keep the controller cool. I will need it when we get around to installing the Tesla Small Drive Unit. That will be a future upgrade.
