We Got Married in Our Apartment with Pastor on Zoom! | Our Home Wedding Ceremony

Hello Flourishing Fam!!! Here is a look at our first wedding ceremony during the thick of covid-19 quarantine in June 2020. It’s June 2020 and we’re in the thick of the pandemic. My fiancé, a NYC ER doctor, was ready to live together but not until we got married first. We were planning our 2021 wedding but rona seemed to have no end in sight so we decided we wouldn’t let it stop us from starting our lives together. I’m not gonna lie, at first I was super hesitant about leaving behind our grand plans and getting married a year earlier than planned! Following a series of premarital counseling sessions, we kept God at our center, and planned this wedding in about two weeks! It was simple and so special. My dress was from fashion nova, bouquet & boutinare from Michael’s, veil from Amazon, I did my hair, my line sister did my makeup, Charles’ Bestman took photos & videos. As I walked towards Charles, I held my phone up with my dad on FaceTime so he could “walk” me down the “isle” of my apartment🤳🏾🤣🙏🏾. Our offiant/pastor, parents, and siblings were on zoom! Afterwards, we took some photos at a park, grabbed take out, and were chillen in bed by 6 🙌🏾. We kept our marriage a secret for three months because we were hoping to still do a big “normal” wedding ceremony the following year and we were nervous that our loved ones wouldn’t be as excited about it if they knew we were already married. After 3 months we didn’t feel good about keeping our marriage a secret anymore and realized that our dreams of having the big wedding the following year was not going to happen. The rona wasn’t getting better. We are so thankful to our village for understanding and for still getting excited about celebrating our love/big wedding two years later! Our first wedding was intimate and special because we were able to just focus our commitment to each other. If timing and/or money is holding you back from getting married, forget all that and just do it. It’s so special to choose each other regardless of it all. A big wedding celebration can always happen at a later time & it’ll still feel special 🤍 We want to thank you all for following our wedding journey up until this point.
