Highlights from Day 4 of our study camp: Huawei Songshan Lake Campus in the morning, and the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration (SCIA) in the afternoon. It has been an extremely informationpacked day! Morning Session at Huawei Songshan Lake Campus We toured Huawei’s Songshan Lake R&D base and got firsthand insights into its researchanddevelopment facilities and overall innovation ecosystem. We attended a special lecture Demystifying the Patent Pool. The speakers were Shen Zhao, Licensing Manager & Legal Counsel from Huawei’s Intellectual Property Department, and Huawei inhouse lawyer Meizhuang Zhang. From a patentholder’s perspective, they unpacked the logic behind patentpool construction and operational mechanisms, covering licensing negotiations, royaltyrate setting, and compliance operations. Perspectives straight from industry practitioners are incredibly valuable! Afternoon Visit to SCIA Next, we visited the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration (SCIA).We learned about the arbitration rules, casemanagement workflows and realworld internationalservice practices of this globaloriented commercial disputeresolution institution. Professor Mark Feldman, Interim Dean of Peking University School of Transnational Law (STL), then delivered a lecture titled Investment Arbitration and Intellectual Property:Ten Key Considerations. His talk revolved around the qualification of IP rights as protected investments, jurisdictional issues, and compensation for damages. We gained a flood of takeaways on crossborder dispute resolution ✨ A full day of site visits plus two intensive lectures — our highlight clip captures all these knowledgerich moments👇
