Hi and welcome to the description! Today we'll be listening to 'DEADBEAT" that is tame impala's fifth studio album, kevin's come back since "The Slow Rush" which is an album that I enjoyed a lot so I was kinda expecting him to keep the positive vibes going, I was not ready for what we got. It seems like Kevin went back to his old ways and is questioning them as of now, the impact they can have on his relationships. There's a bigger sense of loss here and cynicism towards himself, at times only being able to see as a sort of dead weight. Self sabotage and the need to reassure that despite all the troubles, everything was worth it, the outcome could've been different but there's no reassurance as this is how things are, this is the way he is. Despite the repetitive narrative, there's hope and honesty in his lament, songs like "Dracula", "Obsolete" and "Afterthought" being the highlights for me. It can feel weird at times with some production choices, a little out of place or too simple, I think its a reflection on how he felt during this time of his life.
