The whole Mumbai Marathon course in under four minutes, flown from about 3 km up over real satellite imagery, with three drops to 800 m where the course makes its case: the Coastal Road and the Bandra-Worli Sea Link, the U-turn at Lotus junction below Haji Ali, and Marine Drive to the finish. It opens on the whole loop from over the harbour, and it ends over the finish with the start beside it. It is a flat course with one hill in it, run twice. 75% of it lies 10 m or less above the sea, and it climbs 104 m in all, most of that on Pedder Road. After two U-turns round Nariman Point and 3.3 km north along Marine Drive, the hill comes the first time at 9 km: the gentle side up from Chowpatty over Kemps Corner (34 m in 2.2 km), then the steep side down to Haji Ali (31 m in 1 km). Then, new in 2026, the Coastal Road runs north along the sea onto the Bandra-Worli Sea Link: 4.1 km of road over the sea without touching land, on the Coastal Road connector and the Sea Link, with the longest straight of the race (3.1 km) on the bridge and 20 m of clearance under its main span. It is run once, northbound; halfway is at the Bandra end. The way back runs inland through Mahim, down Cadell Road and Dr Annie Besant Road to Worli Sea Face and a U-turn at Worli Dairy (29.7 km), then south on the Coastal Road to Haji Ali and a last U-turn at Lotus junction. The second time up Pedder Road is the steep side, at 35.2 km: 30 m in 1.05 km, and the steepest 500 m of the race at 3.9%, to the highest point, 40.5 m at 36.3 km. From there it is downhill to Chowpatty and 3.7 km south along Marine Drive, road you already ran north at 5.6 km. Nearly half the race, 20 km, is road you run twice. The last 850 m are on Veer Nariman Road, and the finish, by the Mumbai Gymkhana, is 721 m from the start opposite CSMT. The gun goes at 5 a.m., two hours before sunrise. The race records are Hayle Lemi's 2:07:32 and Anchialem Haymanot's 2:24:15, both set in 2023 on the route before the Coastal Road. Race day: Sunday 17 January 2027. This film flies the route as run in 2026; the organiser has not yet published the 2027 route.
