My first ride on the MRT Kajang Line! 🚆
I decided to do a little train hopping, starting my journey from Muzium Negara to Kwasa Damansara.
It was a Saturday morning, around 7:30 am, and surprisingly, there were quite a lot of passengers on board. With so many pairs of eyes around, I didn’t quite dare to film the train interior. Perhaps I was a little too conscious of my surroundings.
A few observations from my first ride:
1. Dusty windows
The windows could definitely use a good cleaning. The window near the door had a thin layer of dust, while the rear window was noticeably dirtier. Unfortunately, I didn’t manage to get a spot near the front window, so I couldn’t comment on its condition. It got me wondering when the train carriages were last given a proper wash.
2. Not quite a relaxing ride
Somehow, I didn’t find the ride particularly enjoyable. I’m not entirely sure why, but perhaps I was a little preoccupied with wondering whether there were any security guards around. That made it difficult to fully relax and enjoy the journey.
3. Different train chimes and announcements
One thing I noticed was that the train chimes were quite different from those on the LRT. On the LRT, you’ll hear the chimes quite frequently throughout the journey, whereas on the Kajang Line, announcements seemed relatively infrequent. It felt a little unfamiliar to me.
4. Longer waiting time
The waiting time also seemed rather long, at around 10 minutes. Perhaps this was due to the Saturday service frequency. Even during peak hours, the waiting time is reportedly around 5 minutes, which feels quite long when compared with the Singapore MRT.
Overall impression
Somehow, the overall mood just wasn’t quite there this time. Maybe it was the crowd, the dusty windows, or simply the fact that I couldn’t find a comfortable spot to film and enjoy the ride.
Hopefully, my next experience will be a better one. Perhaps I’ll have to wake up much earlier, catch a quieter train and find a better spot to enjoy the journey.
Until my next train-hopping adventure! 🚆
