Summary of the Story "The Ruby Maiden":
This story tells of a Kon Chab Lvea Chek (a small, benevolent, and courageous spirit bird) that sacrificed its life to protect the Mountain Spirit from a malevolent serpent demon. In recognition of this immense act of selflessness, the Mountain Spirit granted the spirit a new form as a red ruby, with a blessing: should a kind-hearted person touch the gem, it would transform back into a human being.
One day, Sophea—a diligent and kind-hearted man—was digging for gems and clearing the forest when he touched the ruby. It immediately transformed into a beautiful maiden. To repay his kindness, she led him to a hidden treasure—a rabbit statue containing precious gems—which lifted his family out of poverty and brought them prosperity. Furthermore, they were granted land and a home by the Queen. Ultimately, after overcoming various trials and receiving the blessing of the Mountain Spirit, Sophea and the maiden were married and lived happily ever after.
Moral of the story: "Good deeds always lead to positive outcomes and good fortune."
