A presentation of extracts from Andrea's recent films (While the Gods Were Busy with Another Child, here and not here, Wayfaring Stranger and earlier titles), positions these works as Intuitive Cinema, a form of Possible Film, which seeks a poetics for the politics of now. This Professorial Platform event asks what it means to be fully attentive, and how to make work ‘in relation’, to seek the ‘with’ (not about); and, crucially, without (un)considering the structural, social and political contexts from and into which the work emerges. Professor Helen Brooks, Dean of Research and Knowledge Exchange, welcomed guests to the Platform Theatre at Central Saint Martins in London. Michiko Oki, Senior Lecturer, BA Performance Design and Practice, CSM gave an introduction. An in-conversation with Nadine Monem, Lecturer BA Culture Criticism and Curation, CSM followed the presentation. Andrea Luka Zimmerman is a Jarman Award-winning artist and filmmaker whose multilayered practice has been described as Intuitive Cinema. It embodies and explores fragile refusals and counter memories, and itinerant lives, human and otherwise, in relation to structural and political injustice.
