Bringing a 34-year-old memory into the present day on a short lunch break timeline. The mission this week was locking down the impossible, taking it from flat ground practice right into a bank to bank obstacle at Buena Park. We split the effort across three distinct sessions, battling a massive mid-day energy crash in the first and hunting for proper secondary clips by the third. The main focus was capturing the exact foot position mechanics required to wrap the board cleanly while managing the physical fatigue of multiple explosive sessions.
Clearing the mental fog and resetting expectations is half the battle when you're fighting the clock. After a sluggish start to the week, the environment completely shifted for session two—high energy, clear focus, and a methodical reliance on a safe learning method to minimize the injury tax. It takes serious mental discipline to block out a heavy work schedule, step onto a concrete bank, and commit to the wrap when your body is screaming that you're decades past your physical peak.
The raw results came down to a single, hard-fought make during the peak of the week. Recreating old footage from 1992 across a modern bank to bank obstacle proved to be a heavy physical tax, but breaking down the foot position clips on flat ground helped bridge the gap. We walked away from Buena Park with the body healthy, the baseline footage secured, and ground safely won.
Production Notes: Video incorporates a mix of multi-angle present-day session captures alongside digitized archival footage from 1992.
Keep chipping away.
