While travelling around the North Island photographing NPC Rugby, I took the opportunity to explore this beautiful and secluded beach near Ōhope and Whakatāne. Captured using drone footage and handheld video, this film is all about the natural beauty of Ōtarawairere Bay — with no music, just the natural ambient sounds of the sea, birds and coastline. The video also finishes with a selection of still photographs from the location. Ōtarawairere Bay forms part of the spectacular Ngā Tapuwae o Toi coastal trail and sits beneath Kohi Point between Whakatāne and Ōhope. Surrounded by native bush, pōhutukawa, rocky coastline and clear water, it is a remarkable little corner of New Zealand.
