BCCMA 30th Anniversary - Celebrating Chinese Classics Concert June 15, 2025 - Chan Centre for the Performing Arts Silk Road - Ying Jiang “Silk Road” is an orchestral work by Jiang Ying. It highlights traditional Chinese instruments, especially the plucked strings popular along the Silk Road, and blends rhythms from flamenco, tango, and tap dance. The music builds momentum gradually, leading to a strong climax, like pilgrim caravans gathering from all directions. It expresses life, passion, and dreams flowing like a long river on the Silk Road. This piece reflects the composer’s youthful vision and is a key work in modern Chinese orchestral music.
