Why now—and not before?
After having four children between the ages of 28 and 35, I was very sure I was finished having babies. And honestly, there were some very good reasons for that decision.
My fourth pregnancy took a significant toll on my body, and at the time our family was dealing with enormous stress, limited support, relationship difficulties, and the very real financial pressures that come with raising a large family. I needed time to recover. I needed time to find myself again.
So why, years later, am I even thinking about having another baby?
In this video, I talk honestly about the gap between my last pregnancy and the possibility of another one in my 40s—and why that gap matters. Sometimes the reason we don't have another child isn't because we don't want one. Sometimes life simply isn't in a place where it makes sense.
I also talk about the realities of raising a larger family, the lack of a built-in village, finances, being a stay-at-home parent, recovering physically and emotionally after having children, and how much our perspective can change when life changes around us.
And if you're a woman who had children in her 20s or 30s and suddenly finds herself wondering, "Wait... could I actually want another baby?"—you're definitely not alone.
This is just my story and my experience. I'm not here to tell anyone what they should do. I'm simply sharing what happened when I reached a place where I could finally ask myself:
Okay, cool. What's next?
Maybe it's nothing.
Maybe it's something completely unexpected.
Maybe you're just beginning to wonder, too.
Either way, give yourself some grace. The years when you weren't having babies are part of the journey, too.
Thanks for being here with me x
