The 1979 IFBB Night of Champions bodybuilding contest was held at the City Center in New York City, New York, on May 12, 1979. The event was won by top IFBB Pro Robby Robinson, defeating a perfectly symmetrical and defined Danny Padilla with the huge and ripped Mike Mentzer in third place. Many other legends of the sport fought out the top 8 placings. The video quality is good considering the event took place 47 years ago as at our 2026 release. See some short scenes from the backstage pump room followed by posing by ROBBY ROBINSON, DANNY PADILLA, ED CORNEY, MIKE MENTZER, BILL GRANT, JOE NAZARIO etc. This is followed by the standard ¼ turns. Then the top 5 do some comparisons and ¼ turns followed by the Posedown.  Now it is time for the top 5 to be announced with the awards to the top 2, Padilla and the winner Robby Robinson. Robby does his victory poses to a delighted audience.
