Sudan travel adventure Day 2- Visit to fascinating & historic Sai Island.

We visit an ancient Christian church from the Makuria empire 7th to 14th century AD. Then we visit the Kerma mound graves from the Nubians 2500-1500 BC. After our car breaks down we walk through a farming area where they grow peanuts and okra, visit an abandoned house, meet a baby goat and have an impromptu lunch. Next we walk to the Egyptian town from 1500 BC with an Ottoman fort built over it and find artifacts including petrified wood. Finally we stop at the joint Sudanese-French archeology center where our guide Sami has worked many years as an archeologist and view never before seen artifacts (not allowed to film), then head back to Abri for lunch and a visit to the local hospital and dance show before continuing south to Soleb, Sudan on our overland journey to Khartoum..
